This is the perfect one pot meal for a busy family on a cool winter night! Not only will these super tasty, sweet and succulent ribs please your kids, but add it to brown rice, and serve it with roasted vegetables, and you’ll have a wonderful dinner for guests on the weekend!
Ingredients:
- Olive oil for the pan
- About 2 pounds baby back pork ribs
- 1 cup chunky applesauce
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste

Active Work Time: 10 minutes
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Coat a large oven safe pot (i.e., Le Creuset Dutch oven), with olive oil, and place it over high heat. Between about every four ribs, cut them into two or three sections, so they can fit into the pot. Sprinkle both sides generously with salt and pepper.
Once the pot is very hot, sear the ribs. You should hear a sizzling sound when they hit the pan. If you don’t, wait! Sear each section of the ribs on all sides until they are nicely browned. Use metal tongs to remove them from the pot, and place them on a plate. (You will likely need to do one or two sections at a time.)
Place the ribs back in the pot and add the applesauce and soy sauce. Make sure all of the meat is coated with the sauce, bring to a boil, cover, and place in the preheated oven.
Bake at 400 degrees F, for the first 30 minutes. Then, reduce the heat to 300 degrees F, and cook until the meat is very tender, about 1 1/2 hours. The meat should easily pull off of the bones when it’s ready.
Season to taste with salt and pepper.
