Although this grape originated in France, it really became popular among the masses when New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc hit the market globally. Sauvignon Blanc wine has intense aromas, is vibrant and crisp with wonderful acidity, making it an extremely food-friendly wine.
The best Sauvignon Blanc is from Bordeaux, France; Loire Valley, France; Napa Valley; and New Zealand. Depending on where and how the grape is grown, the wines have different fruit and herbal notes. New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is tangy with citrus flavors, such as grapefruit, and also has wonderful tropical fruit and herbal characters. In warmer regions, such as California and Chile, the wine tends to be a little softer with melon like flavors.
I love sipping on Sauvignon Blanc in the spring and summer. It really does not get any better than being able to sit outside in my backyard and enjoy the sunshine with a good glass of wine that doesn’t break the bank. Here are my top picks for Sauvignon Blanc Wine under $10, just in time for the warm weather season!
