The internet is still talking about Miley Cyrus’ raunchy performance Sunday night at the MTV Video Music Awards. Today her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, came to her defense.
Miley shocked viewers during her performance, getting raunchy with a foam finger, grinding on singer Robin Thicke, and dancing half naked with oversized teddy bears, among other things. Some have been outraged at her behavior and others are just shrugging their shoulders over the whole thing.
Her father spoke out today, saying he supports her no matter what. “Of course I’ll always be here for Miley. Can’t wait to see her when she gets home. She’s still my little girl and I’m still her dad regardless how this circus we call show business plays out. I love her unconditionally and that will never change.”
Also sticking up for her is fellow artist Justin Timberlake. In an interview with Fresh 102.7 radio, he said that Miley is just showing the world she’s moved on from her Hannah Montana days. “Listen, man, you know, it’s the VMAs. What did you guys expect? I like Miley. I like her a lot. I think, you know, she’s young. She’s letting everybody know that she’s growing up. I just think it’s the VMAs. It’s not like she did it at the Grammys. Let her do her thing, you know?”
