New Years Eve DIY Noise Makers

Are you looking for a fun noisemaker for your New Year’s Eve party that won’t break the bank? These DIY noise makers can be made ahead of time, and you can even enlist the kids to help! Once they’re made you can pass them out at the party to both the kids and adults so they can use them make noise at midnight on New Year’s Eve. After ringing in the new year, the noise makers can be opened to reveal their fun treats inside!

Materials:

  • paper bowls: 2 per noisemaker
  • silver and/or gold paint (spray paint works well)
  • curling ribbon and/or streamers
  • glue gun and glue sticks
  • tape
  • candy, small toys, and/or confetti

Optional:

  • stickers
  • markers
  • stick on gems

Directions:

Step 1: Paint the the outside of the bowls with one or two coats of silver or gold paint. You can use spray paint if you have it, with the proper ventilation. You can also use regular paint with a brush to cover the outside of the bowls.

Step 2: Set the bowls aside to let the paint dry completely.

Step 3: Once the paint has dried, flip over half of the bowls and fill them with confetti, small candies, and/or small toys.

Step 4: Cut off 4-6 pieces of gold and/or silver curling ribbon each about 24 inches long.

Step 5: Use a piece of tape to temporarily hold one end of the curling ribbons in place just inside the top lip of the bowl.

Step 6: Use the hot glue gun to glue the curling ribbon down on the lip of the bowl.

Step 7: Put a little glue all the way around the lip of the bowl and sit a second (empty) painted bowl, lip down on top to form a noisemaker with the candy inside.

Step 8: Once the glue has dried, carefully slide the blade of the scissors down the bottom of the curling ribbon as you’re pulling on it to make it curl.

Step 9: You can use the noise makers as they are or decorate them even more with markers, stickers, or stick on jewels. You can make the noise makers ahead of time and let the kids decorate them at the party!

Step 10: Shake your noisemakers at midnight and make some noise!

Step 11: After midnight, you can open the two bowls to reveal the candy and other prizes for your guests to enjoy and take home.
