There’s a glimmer of hope, Sex & the City fans! Sarah Jessica Parker shared that she believes there’s a slight chance for a third installment of Sex & the City on the big screen!
The first film was a smash hit, but the second one was a critical flop and pulled in about $95 million (which isn’t awful, but it was about $50 million less than the first). Sarah shared that she thinks there’s one more that could be made. “A part of me thinks there is one last chapter to tell. But timing is a peculiar thing. It isn’t a decision that can wait forever.” (She joked that she doesn’t want to wait so long that Carrie and company will be wearing “muumuus” over their couture.)
The celebrity mom also talked about the possibility when she made an appearance on Watch What Happens Live in December, “Not that I know of, I’m not ever being cagey, I really don’t know. I think there might be, there is a story that could be told. I don’t know that we’ll ever tell it.”
As a big fan of the HBO series and of the movies, I think part of the “miss” with SATC2 was that a majority of the film’s story happened in Abu Dhabi, when NYC has always played a “main character” of its own alongside the four women. I think it lost a little magic by spending too much time away from the city, but I still enjoyed it. I’m one of those die hard fans who pulls out my DVD copies of all six seasons about once a year and curls up for a marathon viewing!
