DIY Hostess Gift: Fresh Flowers Wrapped in Your Kids’ Art

If you’re like me and tend to procrastinate here and there, hostess gifts are often a last minute thought. I scour through my “gift cabinet” looking for something—anything! Well, my kids and I discovered an easy and lovely DIY gift for the hostess that can be done last minute: a DIY watercolor wrap for a flower bouquet. The best part is that it’s an activity to keep the kids busy, plus it makes affordable, memorable DIY hostess gifts with custom artwork from the kids!

Spend an afternoon crafting a bunch of them, so the next time you’re headed to a party you can grab a sheet and some twine on the way out to the party, stop by the store for a bouquet, and you’re all set.

Supplies:

  • Watercolor paper, size 11×11 or larger
  • Watercolor paints
  • Paintbrushes
  • Flowers
  • Rubber bands
  • Twine or ribbon

Instructions:

Step 1: Cut the watercolor paper into a square. I cut mine 11×11 for a small bouquet.

Step 2: Set up your painting station with the kids. We painted outside on a picnic table on a beautiful summer day.

Step 3: Paint, paint, paint.

Step 4: Let the artwork dry.

Step 5: Gather or purchase flowers, and wrap a rubber band around them.

Step 6: Turn the paper face-down, fold the paper like you see in the photos below, place the flowers on the paper, and wrap. Tie a twine ribbon around the paper.
