You must be excited to meet your loved ones on Christmas. You might have planned many things for a big ol’ family night. After all, it’s the season to bring families together and spread love and joy. However, there are a few things you should never do on Christmas to ensure everyone has an enjoyable time.
1. Don’t ask the price of the gift
Never ask for the gift’s price or receipt to change it later. You should never like or dislike the present based on its cost or brand, at least in front of others. Someone has gone out of their way to get you something, so asking for the price of their gift might be offensive and disrespectful. If you want to know, check it online or in-store without the giftgiver’s knowledge.
2. Don’t re-gift
People tend to re-gift their present if they don’t like it. However, you should avoid doing that. Accept the gift and keep it with you no matter who gave it and what it is. Do not play pass the parcel in front of your family members. Try to use it however you can or give it to someone in need. It might not be helpful to you, but it can be of great use to someone else.
3. Don’t post everything on Instagram
Do not click pictures of every dish at every outing to post them on your stories and feed. Moreover, not everything must be shared on social media for the world to see. Certain things and memories should be private. Remember, you are there to meet your loved ones and to spend time with them, not to show it off to the rest of the world. So keep your phone aside and talk to your family. Click pictures only when necessary.
4. Don’t be on your phone all day
When sitting with your family members, do not text, call, or scroll through your phone in front of them. The family has gathered to celebrate a special occasion and spend the holiday together. So put your phone down and talk to your family. Scroll and text when you are alone.
5. Don’t fight
Arguments are common in a family. However, leave that aside for a few days during the holiday season or at least on the 24th and 25th. Remember, no matter how much you hate the other person or how annoying the other person is, they are still your family. So avoid getting involved in fights or arguments with anyone and try to spread the cheer this holiday instead.
6. Don’t drink too much
Christmas celebrations often include alcoholic beverages, so drink responsibly and avoid getting intoxicated. Drinking too much might lead to some unwanted drama, accidents, poor decision-making, and even health issues, ruining the celebration for everyone.
And most importantly, do not visit empty-handed! Do grab some gifts for your host and their family members. While it’s perfectly fine to let loose and enjoy Christmas, it’s equally important to avoid these things for a joyous experience for you and your loved ones. Merry Christmas!
