Procedure
- To make this DIY skeleton chandelier for Halloween, thrift a candelabra-style chandelier with multiple arms.
- Then, take leg bones from articulating skeletons and with the help of a screwdriver remove the legs from the skeletons at the hips.
- Now, with the help of zip ties attach a set of bones (from the upper arm or thigh region) to each of the arms of the light fixture.
- Then, attach the skeletal hand to the bones with another set of zip ties, making sure to secure them as tightly as possible. When all bones are attached and secured well, trim the ends of the zip ties.
- Now, its time time to attach the skull to the chandelier. For this, drill a hole vertically through a skull (from below the chin and up through the crown) depending on the size of your chandelier. Once done, thread the skull onto the center column or cord of the light.
- Then spray paint the entire light with an off-white almond color or any color of your choice. However, make sure not to get paint inside the light sockets.
- To create the shadow and texture, brush gray paint into any depressed areas (after the previous layer of paint dries) like between the teeth, in the eye and nose sockets, along the skull cracks, and in the finger joints.
- Next, switch out regular candelabra bulbs for ones that look like flames, like flicker bulbs, as they add a hint of mysterious flair to the whole DIY craft.
- Lastly, drape the cheesecloth onto the chandelier and pull it apart to work it over the candles and make it look a little bit ragged.
