Moreover, the Instagram reel gave a sneak peek into the fashion wars between the mother-daughter duo, although the 14-year-old’s mom is none other than the style icon herself.

For a recent video on Instagram, Padma Lakshmi’s daughter, Krishna, raided her mom’s closet for a classic jeans and tee look. However, she chose to wear the pieces differently, which the author wasn’t too happy about. High-waist vs. low-waist pants has been a constant debate in the fashion community over the years, and it seems the 14-year-old loves her jeans low-slung.
Krishna started the video by telling her mom that the outfit was from her closet. However, Lakshmi quickly corrected her kid’s fashion choice, pulling the jeans up to make them high-waist. However, the teen wasn’t a fan, pulling the pants even higher as she tried to make her mom see how ridiculous it would look. Krishna was all the more horrified when Lakshmi started digging around her kitchen drawer, thinking her mom was about to “rubberband” her jeans.
However, Lakshmi was indeed looking for a clothespin to help hold her kid’s jeans up. While the 14-year-old wanted to wear the wide-leg pants extremely low-waist, the model believed the outfit would be more chic if she raised it ever so slightly. After adjusting the jeans, Lakshmi exclaimed that the ensemble was “still very attractive.” But it was an instant “no” from Krishna, who undid her mom’s adjustment while giving her a cheeky smile.
After winning the fashion war against Lakshmi, the teen posed for the camera to give netizens a better look at her take on her mom’s clothes. The author let out a sigh of defeat, which most moms of teenagers can highly relate to.
