Paula Deen Sits Down With Matt Lauer In An Attempt To Share Her Side Of Racial Slur Controversy

Paula Deen continued to attempt damage control in her racial slur controversy

The former Food Network chef sat down with Matt Lauer this morning on the “Today Show”, pleading her case with the public.

Paula was fired from The Food Network and lost an endorsement deal with Smithfield Foods. QVC is still deciding whether or not to continue their partnership with her.  She told Matt, “I am here today because I want the world to know who I am.”  When Matt asked if Paula felt she’d been treated fairly by the businesses who’ve been dropping her, she replied  “Would I have fired me? No. Knowing me? No.”

Paula shared that she’s had a lot of support since the deposition went public.  “I’ve had wonderful support from Rev. [Jesse] Jackson, and I tell ya what: If there’s anyone out there that has never said something that they wish they could take back, if you are out there, please pick up that stone and throw it so hard at me that it kills me. Please, I want to meet you … I is what I is, and I’m not changing.”

“It’s important to me that I tell you and everyone out there what I believe and how I live my life. I believe that every creature on this earth  . . .  was created equal. No matter who you choose to go to bed at night with. No matter what church you go to pray.  Everyone should be treated equal. That’s the way I was raised. That’s the way I live my life.”

Did you watch Paula’s interview?  What do you think about the controversy?  What about her apologies?
