*While chatting with ET on the red carpet, adorable Reese Witherspoon talked about every mom’s least-favorite parenting duty: potty-training her 2-year-old son. “As we speak, there is potty training going on…I want to make sure that everyone knows amidst all this going on, we are still just regular people.” Her exasperated expression said it all!
*Working the red carpet in a high-waisted butterfly ensemble, pregnant Kiera Knightley shared what it’s like to attend the Golden Globes with a bun in the oven. Apparently, it was a “very sober” experience. And instead of lip gloss, she loaded her little clutch with nuts, explaining, “It’s the wonderful thing about being pregnant. You just need to make sure you have snacks. So this is a snack bag.”
*After Amy Adams won best actress for her role in Big Eyes, she acknowledged all of the strong women in the room, and their impact on her young daughter, by saying, “It’s just so wonderful that women today have such a strong voice and I have a 4-and-a-half-year-old and I’m so grateful to have all the women in this room. You speak to her so loudly. She watches everything, and she sees everything and I’m just so, so grateful for all of you women in this room who have such a lovely, beautiful voice.”
*Upon winning her award for best actress in a drama, Patricia Arquette acknowledged “under-appreciated single mothers,” like the mom she played in Boyhood. “Thank you for shining a light on this woman and the millions of women like her and for allowing me to honor my own mother with this beautiful character,” she said. She ended by thanking, “my kids Enzo and Harlow, who I love and respect with all my heart. My favorite role in this whole life has been being your mom.”
*In her acceptance speech, best actress Maggie Gyllenhaal made a girl-power statement about “the wealth of roles for actual women in television and film.” She then went on to acknowledge her two daughters “who will one day be great women.”
*While presenting, goofy couple Anna Faris and Christ Pratt, parents to 2-year-old son Jack, joked, “People don’t know this but we have a mixed marriage. I’m CBS, he’s NBC. But we plan to raise our children HBO.”
