Angelina Jolie Receives Honorary Oscar For Her Humanitarian Work

Angelina, the youngest person to receive this honor, addressed Maddox and her other five kids in her speech, sharing that being their mom is a great gift.  “My family, my love — your love and support make everything possible. Mad, you and your brothers and sisters are my happiness and there is no greater honor than being your mom.”

The mother of six credits her own mom, the late Marcheline Bertrand, for encouraging her to help others. ”[My mother] was very clear that nothing would mean anything if you didn’t lead a life of use to others. I didn’t know what that meant for a long time. I came into this business young and worried about my own experiences and my own pain. To stand here today means I did as she asked. And if she were alive, she’d be very proud.”

Angelina won her first Oscar back in 1999 for her supporting role in the flim “Girl, Interrupted”.
