Here’s our first major celebrity breakup of 2014, but thankfully it looks like another amicable one. We’re sad to report that Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie announced their separation this afternoon. The couple released a joint statement, asking for privacy for them and their son Luca, almost 2.
Their rep shared that they “have mutually decided [upon] an amicable separation. They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other’s lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time.”
A source shared with People that there was no “falling out”, they just drifted apart and after trying several ways to salvage things, they decided to separate. This afternoon the couple Tweeted together, “Mike and I are sitting here,we are so appreciative for all of your kindness& well wishes. Not an easy day but we’re getting thru it together.”
Hilary and Mike have been married since August 2010.
