As soon as I heard, “It’s a girl!” I started worrying about what kind of role models my daughter would have. As a young girl I wanted to emulate what my favorite young celebs were doing. Of course as a parent, I’d never want my daughter to look up to one of the young stars who’s in and out of rehab or having public meltdowns in the tabloids every week. Luckily, some bright, hard-working, articulate, and disciplined celebs — all people I’d be happy to have my daughter admire — are setting a new example in Hollywood:

Adele
Billboard reports that the 26-year-old singer/song writer became the first woman in history to earn three year-end chart honors: No. 1 on Top Artists, the No. 1 Billboard 200 Album, and the No. 1 Hot 100 song. An unconventional pop-star, Adele has never succumbed to pressure over her weight or looks and lets her voice be the only barometer of her success.

This super successful actress and singer is equally known for her philanthropy. She tells Seventeen magazine she's, "In a position to help and that's a powerful thing." Considering all the young girls she's helping by working with the UN Foundation’s Girl Up, she's right. It is a powerful thing. Awesome!

Gabby Douglas
At 16-years-old, Douglas became the first black woman to win the gold medal in the individual all-around competition in women's gymnastics at the London Olympics in 2012.
Vanity Fair reports the "It" Girl of the London games started training in gymnastics at the age of 6 and never let anything stand in her way of getting the gold. Not only is Gabby Douglas a great athlete, she's a great role model too.
