George & Amal Clooney Welcome Twins & We Love The Babies’ Names

George and Amal Clooney are the proud parents of twins!

Earlier today, George released a statement, sharing the couple’s happy news: “This morning Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander Clooney into their lives. Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine. George is sedated and should recover in a few days.”

How cute are the names Ella and Alexander?!

The couple’s baby news was confirmed in February. Ever since their lavish Venice wedding in 2014, whether the couple would start a family had been a popular topic of debate. “I mean, I’ve thought about it,” George told CBS This Morning’s Charlie Rose. “I’ve been asked about it a lot lately because I’ve gotten married and I’m doing a movie with kids in it.” Although the 55-year-old Academy Award winner may have seemed coy on the subject, 39-year-old Amal, a human rights lawyer, seems to be glowing.

At the time that the couple’s pregnancy news was announced, Matt Damon, a close friend of George’s, revealed that he had known about Amal’s pregnancy for a couple months.

“I was working with him last fall and he pulled me aside on set and I mean, I almost started crying,” Damon told The Today Show’s Natalie Morales “I was so happy for him. And I was like, ‘How far along is she?’ And he goes, ‘Eight weeks.’”

Damon immediately asked George if he knew about the 12-week rule. “Like of course he doesn’t. I was like, ‘Just shut up, man.’ And then four weeks later, I’m like, ‘We’re good right?’” To which Clooney gave the all clear: “‘We’re good.’”

Good, indeed! Congratulations to the new parents! Here’s to hoping they share a pic with us soon.
