It definitely was not business as usual at Sydney’s Martin Place this Tuesday! The sounds of bustling corporate men and women going about their daily business were replaced with the uplifting giggles of hyper kids and hip-shaking music from a live Mariachi band, as the CBD underwent a festive makeover to celebrate the imminent release of Disney•Pixar’s latest animated adventure, Coco.
For one epic day, Sydney’s civic heart came alive with music, art, crafts and the mouthwatering smells of freshly sizzling Mexican cuisine, as local families were immersed in a Mexican wonderland reminiscent of the magical world that the blessed brains who brought us such memorable outings as Toy Story 3, Finding Dory and Inside Out have created with their new movie, Coco.
For the uninitiated, Coco centres on the story of a 12-year-old hero named Miguel, who decides to follow his dreams of becoming a musician despite his family’s generations-old ban on music.
And like the movie, the Coco Family Festival transported littlies into a stunning celebration of Mexican music and culture, complete with performances by authentic dancers and musicians, a cooking demonstration plus a stack of arts and crafts activities.
