Raise your hand if you’re totally done with real life and are ready to peace out and find a seriously epic adventure. Yeah, me too! That’s why Walt Disney World is basically the best place on the planet. Not only do you not have to deal with life’s day-to-day annoyances, but you get to act like a kid—maybe you even get to be giddier and more child-like than your own offspring. There are few places on earth that let you feel this goofy, this exuberant, and this spoiled, while creating awesome memories that you and your family will fondly remember forever.
Spending a week (or even a few days) at Walt Disney World’s four theme parks will recharge your batteries and put you in serious bliss mode between their thrilling attractions and character experiences, to the must-have shopping and multitude of yummy dining options.
Don’t know where to start? Here’s a list of ultimate-escape activities that offer a little something for everyone. Check it out to find out what’s right for your next vacation!
Pandora-The World of Avatar. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, you can escape the day-to-day by traveling to the distant moon of Pandora. This natural wonder has everything, from a bioluminescent forest to a Na’vi-built drum circle and floating mountains. Plus, hang on as you ride atop a wild banshee and soar through this breathtaking world. It will totally blow your mind.
For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration. You may think that because you’ve listened to “Let It Go” approximately 12 million times you’ve experienced all Frozen has to offer. Not so! I have it on high authority that the sing-along at Disney’s Hollywood Studios featuring Anna and Elsa is the absolute bomb. In it, royal historians recount the epic saga of two sisters living in the icy kingdom of Arendelle. Along the way there’s plenty of kid-pleasing letting it go and singing about snowmen, but this show makes adults laugh too (yay!).
Mickey’s PhilharMagic. Treat your eyes and ears to an awesome animated musical escape at Magic Kingdom. Sit back and relax as Donald Duck gets himself into a bit of mischief while donning Mickey’s sorcerer hat. Then he’ll take you on a wild 3-D adventure in some of Disney’s most beloved locales, set to the tune of your favorite Disney songs.
Star Tours – The Adventures Continue. Nothing says “escape from reality” like heading to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to board a Starspeeder 1000 and blasting off to galaxies far, far away in this intergalactic 3-D experience. Immerse yourself in the world of Star Wars and face villains such as Kylo Ren as C3-PO tries to get you and a rebel spy to safety. Good luck, and may the force be with you!
Agrabah Bazaar. Ready for a little shopping? Duck into Agrabah at Magic Kingdom, where you’ll be dazzled by the colors, aromas, and merchandise of Aladdin’s favorite marketplace. Guests can take a break from the thrill rides to peruse Arabian gems, from clothing to food, gifts, toys, and housewares.
DINOSAUR. Dino enthusiasts will flip for the Dino Institute at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, where you can inspect fossils and colossal skeletons before boarding a Time Rover for your real mission: rescuing an Iguanodon from extinction. Dip and twist and speed through a darkened forest, but try to find the Iguanodon before a hungry Carnotaurus finds you first!
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Make no mistake, this Magic Kingdom attraction is seriously epic and not for the faint of heart. Hop aboard a mysterious locomotive, and get lost inside a 200-foot mountain, swooping through caverns, caves, and ghost towns. Instantly you’ll feel like an old-timey prospector on the search for gold—but watch out for landslides!
Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade. It’s not just about the crazy thrill rides. This parade, filled with music and dance, is one of the coolest tributes to Magic Kingdom’s legacy of fairytales and fantasy. It will definitely take all your cares away. Marvel at state-of-the-art floats and colorful performers on stilts as they cavort in a fantastical procession of heroines, heroes, villains, and the beloved Mickey Mouse himself.
