Build-A-Bear Is Bringing Baby Yoda to A Store Near You

You don’t have to have even seen The Mandalorian to know who Baby Yoda is. With his giant eyes and adorable ears, Baby Yoda has become the new face of memes and craft projects, theme parties and even dessert foods. And soon, you will be able to make your own Baby Yoda at Build-A-Bear.

To catch up those who haven’t been watching, The Mandalorian is a Disney+ original show that has basically broken the Internet with its introduction of The Child, or as we like to call him, Baby Yoda. The storyline takes place five years after the Return of the Jedi and 25 years before The Force Awakens. It follows the adventures of a lone Mandalorian bounty hunter. Think Boba Fett but at a different time and way far away from The New Republic.

Sharon Price John who is the current Build-A-Bear CEO told an audience at the ICR Conference in Orlando, Florida conveyed that her team is looking forward to introducing Baby Yoda. “I’m excited to share we will be one of the first companies to provide the digital and internet phenomenon who is trending higher than all the presidential candidates combined,” she said.

The iconic toy brand has partnered with the likes of Star Wars, Pixar, Disney, and others to bring beloved characters to kids and families. But interestingly, it is not kids that the company is eyeing up with their Baby Yoda offering. According to Business Insider, nearly half of Build-A-Bear’s sales are targeted to tweens, teens, and young adults. Pretty smart considering how popular Baby Yoda is right now among the YA set.

John told the conference that Build-A-Bear has been working with Disney and Lucasfilm almost since the first episode of The Mandalorian.  “It’s great, again, to be in business with best-in-class partners,” John said.

As of now, there are no dates or identified locations for the unveiling of Baby Yoda at Build-A-Bear, however, it was noted by Business Insider that it would be “in the next few months.” Perhaps we will see it roll out in time for the 2020 holiday season.
