A New ‘The Office’ Children’s Book Is Being Published & We Can’t Wait

The Office is about to gain a much younger following.

Even though the series finale of The Office aired in 2013, the hit show’s legacy lives on thanks to reruns and easy access via Netflix. And now, The Office fandom continues – with a much younger audience. As Entertainment Weekly reports, a new book for kids, The Office: A Day at Dunder Mifflin Elementary, is debuting later this year. Though the book is intended for kids ages 4 to 8, you can be sure that we’ll be reading it, too.

So what can you expect from A Day at Dunder Mifflin Elementary? The story will follow an elementary-aged Michael as he works to become the “World’s Best Line Leader.” Plus, plenty of G-rated humor with nods to shenanigans from the original series. Other members of the Dunder Mifflin, including, Dwight, Jim, Pam, Stanley, Phyllis, Meredith, Ryan, and Toby make up the rest of the class.

My teen and tween are obsessed with The Office and I often hear them screaming with laughter from the other room while they watch it. While they may not catch every “That’s what she said” joke, I am perfectly comfortable (and somewhat psyched) that they are enjoying the hilarious show. Of course, I end up watching it with them half the time which results in dinner getting on the table late or the laundry not getting done. Alas, it’s worth it.

This is the second children’s book inspired by the sitcom. Fun at the Office! by Mark Cloud was released in 2019 and follows memorable moments from the show. His follow-up Goodnight Scranton is set to release this summer.

The Office: A Day at Dunder Mifflin Elementary won’t be hitting stores until October 6, 2020, but you can preorder your copy for $18 on Amazon now.
