Top Dry Skin Remedies For The Cold Weather

My poor kids have chronic dry skin this time of year and this year in particular seems to be worse than ever.
Luckily, there are some wonderful products on the market for both kids and Moms that will help you tackle those dry patches of skin when things get chapped and cracked.

1.For the dry skin emergency:

When all else fails for my kids, we do Vaseline or Aquafor at night.  It’s not glamorous or special but just a tried and true solution that will help seal dry skin cracks overnight.  Especially with my oldest – we’ll put ample amounts of Vaseline on his hands right at bedtime, and then have him wear a pair of socks on his hands.  He gets a kick out of it!  Sometimes the socks stay on, sometimes they don’t but by the morning there is a remarkable difference in his skin condition. It’s cost-effective too.  Get a 3.75 oz jar at CVS for $2.99.

2. For winter bathtime:

I love Aveeno Bath Oil for my kids.  As both of my boys love to stay in the tub and play for up to an hour, I’m aware to the fact that they have sensitive skin and shouldn’t soak for too long.  I put a little bit of the Aveeno Bath Oil in with them when they are playing – it’s made for dry, itchy skin and problem skin with eczema.  When my kids are done in the bath, their skin is noticeably softer and definitely more moisturized.  Get a 295 ml bottle for $6.99 at Drugstore.com.

3. For everyday:

I am a huge fan of Yes to Carrots.  Their organic products are made of all natural ingredients and work wonders.  I use the Yes to Tomatoes Daily Moisturizer on my face every morning and night and I haven’t had dry skin in months.  They make products for all skin types and for kids so it’s a matter of experimenting and finding the one that works for you.  You can find Yes to Carrots sold in-store at Target or at the Yes to Carrots website  (They have Carrots, Cucumbers, Tomatoes and Blueberries).

Alternatively, I sometimes use Origins A Perfect World SPF 25 Age-Defying Mouisturizer it’s wonderful.  You can get it for $38.00 at Origins.com and it lasts for a long time.
