Spring produce is hitting its stride, and the best aid for your skin is right there in those fruit stands. I make my own simple skin care with fruits and veggies. It’s easier on the wallet and I feel good knowing exactly what ingredients are going in.
The Beauty Benefits of Strawberries:
Strawberries have amazing brightening and toning enzymes in them and are great this time of year for a spring reboot. Surprisingly, strawberries have more vitamin C per serving than grapefruits. According to Patricia Farris, MD, clinical assistant professor of dermatology at Tulane University in New Orleans, “Vitamin C helps form collagen, which smooths fine lines and wrinkles.” (via CNN)
Make your own strawberry enzymes scrub for your face with this simple recipe and tutorial below:
Supplies:
- Sugar
- Strawberries
- Almond oil
Instructions:
Step 1: Start with your oil. You will want a two-to-one ratio with the sugar. Stir oil and sugar in a bowl, and stir until just combined.
Step 2: Muddle or blend your strawberries for a smooth consistency.
Step 3: Add in the fruit to the sugar mixture. Make sure to not to over-mix or the solution will dissolve.
Step 4: Apply to clean, dry face for about ten minutes and rinse. If sealed tight you can save your scrub for up to two weeks.
Voila! You’re left with glowing, fresh skin.
