Mommy Must Haves: Smurf Edition

I’m feeling a little Smurf today. Oh yes I did just use the word Smurf to describe how I am feeling and I am not ashamed of it.

But as anyone who watched the Smurfs growing up can attest to, those little blue beings use “Smurf” to describe pretty much any feeling they have. It’s definitely a bit of nostalgia that has me thinking I might not dread seeing the new Smurf movie. So if you, like me, grew up with “are we there yet Papa Smurf” ringing in your ears why not show your true colors and incorporate some Smurf into your life.

Ricochets necklace $38

If you don’t want to go all Smurf try adding just a touch of their signature blue with this beach inspired necklace. It adds just enough color with jumping headlong into full head to toe blue.

Bette Cardigan in Sky $68

Even Smurfette gets chilly sometimes. Keep the “too much sun shivers” away as dusk sets with this throw back cardigan. Great to top jeans, skirts or a little sun dress in the evening.

Paige Denim Lou Lou Flare  $179

I know we all dread donning white pants for fear of what might end up on them, but the plus side is they are easy to bleach. I love Paige denim for the way the ex-jean fit model knows just how a good pair of jeans should fit a woman. If the Smurfs can get away with white pants so can you.

James perse Short Sleeve V neck Tee $50

Even though the Smurfs went topless you probably want to add a shirt to your ensemble. One summer staple you can never have too many of is a white t-shirt. James Perse makes, in my estimation, one of the best fitting white tee’s around. Dress it up or down and stay cool this summer.

Sky Blue Espadrilles $25.95

Espadrilles are the quintessential summer shoe, easy to throw on with shorts, jeans or a dress. Try them in turquoise for a Smurfalicious look.

Jonathan Adler: Blue Apple Pillow $98

Maybe the Smurf blue is a little too much for your wardrobe but that doesn’t mean you have to be left out of the party. Add an accent pillow like this tongue and cheek design from Jonthan Adler for a summer feel.

Smurf Figures $3.50-$14

No homage to Smurfdom would be complete without some of the little blue figures. Grab one or a whole group and let your kids act out their own Smurf Movie. You could even film it on the flip cam so you have it to show when your child accepts their first Oscar.
