Toddler fashions will give way to bright colours, a myriad of patterns, and fanciful pieces that look like grown-up clothes shrunken down to irresistible mini-me sizes.
Spring/summer fashions are hitting stores across the country at lighting speed, and here’s what you’ll find for fashionable little boys and girls from some of the major labels.
Gap
Traditional looks and time-tested quality is what Gap clothes are all about., and what’s more seasonal-appropriate than a new line called “Chasing Spring,” which is the name of the most recent collection at Gap for toddler girls and boys (1-5 years). For the little ladies, pinks and purples prevail, while stripes and florals dazzle everything from tops to leggings and more. The boys will be decked out in vibrant graphics and handsome plaids that will endure their rough-and-tumble tendencies.
Old Navy
Mommies love shopping at Old Navy for their quality clothes that are always in affordable price ranges (not to mention the incredible weekly specials that they always have – check out their website for more info). Trench coats will keep girls warm this season, and classic cardigans along with dresses in ruffled chiffon and flowered drop-waist designs will keep them oh-so-pretty. Boys are all about layers in the coming months, which include hooded sweaters and anoraks, too-cute argyle sweater vests (just like daddy!), and graphic or saying tees, which can be mixed and matched.
MEXX Canada
Clean and simple lines with just a few dashes of kid-friendly whimsy, MEXX Canada’s spring collection for boys and girls has classic colour and cut combinations, like hot pink, white and grey for the ladies along with blue and grey denim for the lads. Delicate tiny polka-dots, bows, or ruffles give the girls’ line soft edge, and pockets, cuffs, and even casual ties scream “adorable” for the boys.
H&M Canada
Several themes, as always, are intertwined in H&M’s spring/summer clothing for kids this season, from nautical colours (red, white and blue) and striped good-looks to beloved characters like Hello Kitty, The Muppets and DC Comics dominating tops. Active boys will love the letterman-printed T-shirts and wind-breaker jackets, and fashionistas-in-training will adore their coloured Twil trousers, round-toe ballet flats, denim shorts and skirts, and array of cutesy sundresses.
Carter’s/Osh Kosh
We know what you’re thinking – Carter’s is only available in the States, but we’re here to tell you that Carter’s active separates (sizes 2-7) are now available in Canada! You can stock up on their new tees, detailed with little monkeys and funky electric guitars, and pair them with plaid skirts and shorts.
And for the Osh Kosh collection, logo tops and cargo shorts are all the rage with the boys, and ruffled above-the-knee skirts, linen tanks, and pastel-coloured shirts are sweet for girls.
