First Lady Michelle Obama dishes with Rachael Ray (in an interview airing today, February 20th) on her new bangs, her picks for the Oscar winners and shares what treasures she keeps in her office.
Her new bangs were the talk of the Inauguration, the First Lady jokes, “This is my mid-life crisis, the bangs. I couldn’t get a sports car. They won’t let me bungee jump. So instead, I cut my bangs.”
She admits she’s a movie buff and shares who she’s cheering for on Sunday, “You know, we usually host the governors here, so we always miss the Oscars, but I will be rooting in spirit. I’ve seen almost all of the movies, except for a few.”
Her favorites, “Of course, love Lincoln; the family watched that. Malia and I just saw Argo a couple of weeks ago – loved that. One of our family favorites is Beasts of the Southern Wild. This has been a great year in movies, so I don’t think we can have a loser.”
The First Lady also shared with Rachael what she keeps in her office at The White House, “Of course I have tons of pictures in my office, and [holding up photo] this is actually Sasha’s lower school graduation. So she has her little flowers…And, you know, Malia looks much older than I’d like her to look…And one of the things I love, one of my most valued possessions, are my collection of military coins. [Holding up coin] This just happens to be one of them, but I have several. Any time I go to a military base or meet with a service member, this is one of the important ways that they thank you for whatever you are doing. And I collect these like diamonds.”
