Stephenie Meyers Twilight

Stephenie Meyer Feels Guilt Over Robert Pattinson And Kristen Stewart’s Mega-Fame

While out promoting the movie release of “The Host”, author and producer Stephenie Meyer opened up about her Twilight stars, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

The Twilight books had a cult following when the movie went into production.  When Rob and Kristen and the rest of the cast signed on, it was thought to be a small “indie type” film…and then things went haywire from there.  Stephenie shared with The Times that she’s not sure it was a level of fame anyone could have predicted.

Stephenie shared, “Here’s the thing: there are some actors who are looking to be world famous, to be that household name, and although they might discover that there are a lot of negative things involved in that, it’s what they want. But that doesn’t apply to Kristen and Rob. That’s what makes it kind of ironic and tragic.  I just don’t think they enjoy the parts [of fame] that other people would. And I totally get that, because it would not be my thing either.”

Stephenie feels a bit of guilt that Rob and Kristen were saddled with the burden of the Twilight spotlight, leaving her to have some semblance of privacy and normalcy with her family.  “At the same time – and this is where the guilt comes from – it’s created this nice, peaceful place for me. They took all of my heat, which I feel bad about. If they had the choice, I’ve no idea if they’d even do Twilight again. I just don’t know. I think this has all come at a heavy price.”

While I do feel for them on some levels with regard to their privacy, etc., they could easily take their millions and hide away for a few years until the frenzy dies down even further.

What do you think?  Did Rob and Kristen pay a high price for signing on with the franchise?

As a side note – if you have any interest in the rumors that the Rob/Kristen cheating scandal was a huge PR stunt, there are some rather interesting sites out there that pick apart the photos, possibly proving that they were staged. Here and Here.  I love a good mystery, but if you’re a die hard Robsten fan, you may not want to click!
