Last week my oldest started school for the first time. After a week of school stuff thrown all over the house, I’ve realised that we need a school bag storage area. Somewhere to store his bag, books, hat and all the other paraphernalia that comes along with starting school. Who’d have thought one little person would need so much stuff!
After some serious scouring of Pinterest, Google and my favourite bloggers I have found 16 simple, practical and gorgeous school bag storage ideas that I think will work in almost any home. Now just to choose between them…

Baskets for bits and bobs
The little baskets that are part of this school bag storage area would be great for homework and notes from school. I also love how it doesn't look super "schoolish" and would still be useful for coats and hats as this kids grow up. There is a tutorial here .
Small and manageable
This compact school bag area (found on Better Homes & Garden's ) is a great option if you are short on space. Most of these items can be found at Ikea and it would be quick and affordable to make.

Simple hooks work well
Everything in Emily Clarke's home is simply stunning, and her school bag organisation area is no exception. I love how she's displayed the kids artworks to make it a decorative as well as practical area.

Putting a corner to good use
I love this idea for a corner space. So often I overlook corners in our home and they become just a wasted open space but this solution makes excellent use of an otherwise unusable area.
