Ford for Moms

5 Coolest New Gadgets for Moms

#1 Ford SYNC

It’s no secret that car companies often court the mom crowd, but with available SYNC, Ford is getting serious about wooing modern tech-savvy parents. Whether you spend a little time in the car, or a lot, SYNC turns your vehicle into a cutting-edge techno-marvel that plugs you into everything you need access to while driving—and does it quickly, easily and helps you keep your eyes on the road. Here are a few of our favorite features:

Listen to Text Messages: We live in the age of texting, and as mothers we want to be able to access messages immediately. Now when you receive a text, there’s no reason to take your hands off the wheel. SYNC reads text messages to you and even recognizes emoticons and abbreviations like 🙂 and LOL – amazing! You can also reply to a text via a series of preset messages—all by using your voice. So no matter how long your drive is, you’re never out of touch.

Assistance on the Road: When you pair your phone with Ford SYNC, be sure to activate 911 Assist. If you’re ever in an accident that causes an airbag to deploy, SYNC can call 911 and report your location, even if you can’t. The SYNC microphone opens as well, allowing those inside the car to talk hands-free with the operator. The 911 Assist menu also contains an ‘In Case of Emergency’ speed dial list that you can add two names to. Your ICE contacts are displayed on the touch screen once SYNC completes the 911 call. While you’ll hopefully not need it, Ford SYNC goes directly to emergency responders—a feature that gives on-the-go parents peace of mind. And it is available at no additional charge.

The vehicle’s electrical system (including the battery), the wireless service provider’s signal and a connected mobile phone must all be available and operating for 911 Assist to function properly. These systems may become damaged in a crash. The paired mobile phone must be connected to SYNC, and the 911 Assist feature enabled, in order for 911 to be dialed. When the feature is ON, 911 Assist uses your paired and connected mobile phone to assist occupants to contact emergency services by dialing 911 if your airbag deploys or, on certain vehicles, if the emergency fuel pump shut-off is activated.
