Beyond pure modesty (after all, we don’t need lady-bits hanging out as we walk through hotel lobbies), the cover-up is part of your complete swim look. It should coordinate with your swimsuit, fit well and, quite frankly, be able to do double duty in terms of packing and wardrobe on any trip.
A great cover-up can become part of another vacation outfit in a pinch if you play your cards right. Pair it with a pair of white skinny jeans, a mini, or even a pair of dress shorts. Longer versions can be a dress themselves – and god bless the caftan for being another dress option in and of itself.
There is a reason to invest and be choosy here, but let’s not go crazy. Unless you will be in the south of France, there is no need for the silk or any ridiculously expensive designer options. You want style, flexibility and the ability to launder.
