The Queen of Christmas lent her beautiful voice to CBS on the 25th evening for a holiday special, “Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas to All!” With the two-hour concert airing at 9 pm last night, it is no surprise the singer made headlines as she set the mood for the festive season (via Sports Illustrated).
Filmed at Madison Square Garden in New York City, Carey performed several holiday hits, including the classic, all-time favorite “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” With the hit single topping charts during the holiday season and the singer being the talk of the town, many are curious about her kids, whom she often shares on her socials.
Recently, Mariah Carey shared a funny reel with her kiddos on Instagram to ring in the Christmas cheer. The post featured her twins, whom she shares with ex-husband Nick Cannon. The kids jokingly noted that they were fed up with the classic Christmas track sung by their mom.
As soon as the pop icon starts singing “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” the children can be seen darting off (via People).
Mariah Carey has two kids
Mariah Carey shares twins Monroe Cannon and Moroccan Cannon with ex-husband Nick Cannon. The kids were born in Los Angeles on April 30, 2011, and are 12 years old. Carey’s representatives confirmed that Monroe was born first, followed by Moroccan soon after (via People).
Mariah Carey explained in her memoir that she wanted her children to have the same initials, which explains why the twins’ names start with M. Monroe’s name takes inspiration from Marilyn Monroe, and she is often lovingly called Roe. Carey’s daughter has already dabbled in several things, like singing and modeling.
In a 2016 interview, Carey acknowledged Monroe’s musical talent. She said, “Monroe has a really, really good ear for music and a really beautiful tone…” However, she clarified that she won’t force her daughter to sing and leave it to Monroe if she wants to dabble in music (via People).
Moroccan’s name was inspired by the decor style Mariah Carey tends to like. Her New York City apartment’s top tier uses Moroccan-inspired decor, which also happens to be her and Nick’s engagement location. Like his sister, he also has a nickname, Rocstar.
In a 2020 interview, Nick Cannon revealed that his son called him a “player,” stating that the conversation was hilarious. Nick replied to Moroccan’s statement, questioning, “Who taught you that word? Who’s been talking to you?” Nick fondly recollected the funny exchange with his son (via Entertainment Tonight).
