If you or your kids are avid followers of the K-entertainment industry, you must have already heard about the unfortunate passing of Lee Sun-Kyun. Best known for his role in “Parasite,” which went on to win an Oscar, the South Korean actor was found dead in a car in Seoul on Dec. 27, 2023 (via Associated Press).
The news of his passing follows up weeks of police investigation for apparent drug abuse, with an intense 19-hour questioning session over the weekend. While the police refused to go into details, several South Korean outlets have reported that Lee Sun-Kyun allegedly committed suicide. Apparently, on Wednesday morning, his family reported to the police that the actor was missing after leaving behind a message that could be interpreted as a suicide note.
Reportedly, the same missing person alert led to the police searching for the K-drama star (via Reuters). Lee Sun-Kyun was found unconscious in a car that was parked on a street in northern Seoul. As per Seongbuk police station, he was later confirmed dead by the emergency officers.

Lee Sun-Kyun had two kids
Lee Sun-Kyun and Jeon Hye-Jin tied the knot in 2009 and had been together for 14 years before his unfortunate death. The South Korean actress is as highly regarded in the K-entertainment industry as her late husband. She has starred in hit TV series like “Not Others,” “Search: WWW,” “Uncle,” and more. She also won a Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the historical drama “The Throne” (via The Sun).
The couple shared two sons. Their first child was born on Nov. 25, 2009, and is currently 14. The pair’s youngest followed soon after and was born on Aug. 9, 2011. Lee Sun-Kyun’s secondborn is only 12 years old.
