Ohio Amber Alert Issued for Missing 5-Year-Old

On Feb. 14, 2024, an Ohio Amber Alert was issued at 5:10 a.m. about a missing five-year-old child. The little boy was abducted from his home in South Columbus on Wednesday morning and has been missing since (via Fox 8 News).

The five-year-old, Darnell Taylor, was abducted from his house at around 3:50 a.m. Police identified the kid’s foster mother, Pammy Maye, to be the one who took him. The Ohio Amber Alert states that Maye threatened to harm the child and fled in a vehicle. Homicide detectives are also at the scene for the same reason.

Around 6 a.m., an abandoned vehicle matching the description provided in the Ohio Amber Alert was found. However, Taylor and Maye were missing from the same. The car was towed from an apartment complex on Memphis Avenue in Brooklyn (via Fox 8 News).

On Feb. 27, 2024, Pammy Maye was formally indicted by a Franklin County jury. She faces the charges of aggravated murder, abuse of a corpse, and three counts of tampering with evidence. The 48-year-old will appear for a formal arraignment on Friday (via NBC4).

What to do if your child gets abducted?

The initial hours are the most critical when a child gets abducted. If your little one is missing, it is extremely important to contact your local police promptly. Give them all the information that you can immediately so the police can start looking for your kid (via Nemours KidsHealth).

They will ask for your child’s recent picture, so try to keep the latest pic handy where your baby’s face can be clearly seen. Also, try to recall what your kid was wearing when you last saw them and note it down somewhere, so you have the information on hand whenever someone asks for the same. They might also ask you about the time and place when you last saw your little one.

Staying as calm as possible would be best because recalling crucial information with a calmer mind is easier. This can help the authorities do a better job of helping you.
