In a recent appearance on “Today with Hoda & Jenna” to promote the Netflix series “Nobody Wants This,” Adam Brody spoke about parenting his children with his wife, Leighton Meester. The actor revealed that they have an honest relationship with their kids and sometimes have open conversations. He further shared the “magic” behind his decade-long marriage before proceeding to gush over his wife and their relationship.
Adam Brody and Leighton Meester aren’t ‘overly strict’ parents
During his appearance on “Today with Hoda & Jenna,” Adam Brody revealed his and wife Leighton Meester’s parenting style. The couple has two children, a 9-year-old daughter Arlo, and a 4-year-old son, whose name is yet to be revealed. The hosts asked the actor about the couple’s parenting strategies and if it was a “helicopter” or more of a “free range” household.
Brody acknowledged it was a “perfect balance of all of it.” The “Nobody Wants This” star revealed that the couple shared a “very honest” relationship with their children. He said, “We have some very truthful conversations, for better or worse. But, I think, other than that, I wouldn’t say overly strict.”
He further shared about not being overly strict but also keeping the kids safe at the same time. Brody said, “There is a helicopter, you know, to keep them safe. I’m not overly strict but I see the sharp edges, literally. And their heads aren’t gonna… I want to keep those heads maintained.”
When host Jenna Bush Hager echoed the sentiment referencing her 5-year-old’s safety, Brody agreed. He said, “Yeah, I’m surprised…because my son is 4. I’m surprised none of us have gotten the black eye. I always thought, especially with him, one of us was going to get his nose broken.”
Adam Brody also revealed the secret to his long-lasting marriage with his wife, Leighton Meester. The two tied the knot in February 2014. He suggested, “Oh, pick someone good. Be lucky and be in love with someone who’s great and then just kind of listen to them.” The actor addressed the importance of sacrifice and humility for a couple to grow together but noted that it’s great when one chooses the right partner.
