Our summer travels are coming to an end, but it’s never too late to take stock of that now sand-filled, well-traveled little backpack that my son carried with him on planes, trains, and automobiles. What was it that got us through our adventures — those things that we JUST HAD to have with us and ON us? Here are my top 17 summer must- haves, especially for BOY moms on the go!
Summer Must-Haves for Boy Moms Who Are on the Go
Live the Process Leggings
I never knew if I was going to be able to work out. And I’m sorry but isn't being a BOY MOM A WORKOUT IN ITSELF? I love these leggings that look good walking my son to camp, on a plane, or in my SWERVE class.

iPad & iPhone
There have been long car rides and long plane rides a plenty. So, the iPad and iPhone had Minecraft and Honey I Shrunk the Kids and Netflix at the ready. My son loves movies (Mommy, too) so thank goodness for these good-for-you electronic options. Moms, make sure you filter and have the child preferences on your phone!

Fitbit
I wear my Fitbit pretty much all the time. I’ve become a master of hiding it, but my son wants one, too! I'm trying to teach him early that walking and taking care of yourself is fun. The Fitbit has put the joy back into walking; we explored New York City on foot, from Times Square to Lincoln Center to the Nomad Hotel, which amounted to five miles of walking almost every day. Little boys can do it!

Duolingo
Roman and I started learning FRENCH together! This app is great and simple enough for mommy and boy. It's a great interactive activity for the young sponge mind and my old rusty one.

Weelicious
My friend Catherine McCord is such a lover of good food on-the-go. A mother of three with one on the way, she takes the mystery out of good-for-you food and helps you get organized with the best products. I love her site and her light!

Lego Mini Figures
I keep them in my purses and pockets and backpacks! If we ever have to wait anywhere it's always good to have our little friends at the ready to play.

Sketch Pad & Colored Pencils
My son LOVES to draw. Loves it. I've learned I never leave home without a hard stock-paper sketch pad and an array of colored pencils. I can't believe how wonderful his Justice League and Pokémon sketches got over the summer! It's creative and fun for me, too, when I join in.

Baby Wipes
You would think this would be just for Roman, but it's for me too. I'm a mess.

Freedom Artists Trucker Hat
I love my trucker hat from this company. But what I love most is that I can make it small enough for Roman and he can wear it too. We bring one hat and share it.

Vertra Sunscreen
This is a must. A great travel brand is Vertra. Professional surfers use it. We NEVER burn with this brand.

White Fruit of the Loom T-Shirts
I always keep an extra shirt on me for spills and unexpected joy. What I love about these classic t-shirt in boy sizes is they fit me, too. So we can share in case either of us loses in the food fight.

The Little Prince Book
When I went to Paris I got my favorite children's book, The Little Prince Book , from the famous Shakespeare and Co. Now Roman and I have it with us all the time. If there is a lull we go straight to seeing what's up with that little prince.

Small Stuffed Animal
We ALWAYS need a little cuddle. Roman is particularly fond of little penguins and aliens at the moment, and it is always good to have a little taste of his bed with him.

Z Bars
These are my son's favorite snack bars when he is on-the-go!

I love either these J Crew trunks (pictured) or swimwear by Hurley . Always want to be ready for a summer swim!

Frends Headphones
They are functional and fashionable. The Layla headphones are just the right size for lil one's and mommy's little ears. And they just look cool.
