Why I Refuse to Diet in Front of My Daughters (Even Though I Have to Watch My Weight for Work)

Marla Sokoloff, 35, got her first big break in acting when she was cast as Gia, Stephanie Tanner's arch enemy-turned-best friend in “Full House,” at the age of 12. Since then, she has continuously worked in TV, film, and music. Her other big roles include Lucy Hatcher in “The Practice” and Jody Lynch in “Party of Five.” She has also appeared on “Friends,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “CSI NY,” and more.
In addition to her work in TV, Sokoloff has starred in several movies, including The Baby-Sitters Club, Whatever It Takes, Dude, Where's My Car?, Sugar & Spice, Love On The Side, and Play the Game. She also voiced the Glatorian Kiina in Bionicle: The Legend Reborn; played Imogene O'Neill in the mini-series, Meteor; and starred in the cable-television movie A Christmas Wedding Date. Most recently, Marla wrapped the indie film, A Happening of Monumental Proportions, with Allison Janney and Judy Greer directing, as well as Hallmark’s Summer in the City opposite Vivica A. Fox.
Beyond acting, Sokoloff is a talented musician and writer. On the music side, she writes, sings, and plays the guitar. She was signed to Maverick Records and released an album in 2006 entitled Grateful. She is also a regular contributor to People.com’s incredibly popular Celebrity Baby Blog.
Sokoloff and her husband, composer Alec Puro, reside in Los Angeles with their daughters Elliotte Anne, 4, and Olive Mae, 1.
