My kids are getting bigger by the minute but they are still little enough to have giant fears like being afraid of the dark, which has made bedtime a particularly challenging experience for my husband and me. In this lovely classic children’s story, a little boy gets up the courage to confront the monster in his closet but ends up scaring the monster instead. Talk about a fun twist on a scary topic for little ones.
‘No Such Thing’ written by Jackie French Koller and illustrated by Betsy Lewin
If you loved the twist in the Mercer Mayer book then you’ll love this too. Koller explores what happens when monster under the bed are afraid of what’s on TOP of the bed…your child! Kids will love this twist of a tale.
‘Blanche Hates The Night’ written by Sibylle Delacroix
My oldest child isn’t afraid of monsters in his closet but he is afraid of missing out on fun so just like Blanche, he tries to be find ways to stay awake every night. Talk about exhausting. Blanche wants to experience EVERYTHING but eventually gets too tired and gives up. If your kid is like mine, they will love this book.
