Nick Cannon has been spending a better part of his time lately on diaper duty. In the span of six months, the Masked Singer judge and co-executive producer, 40, has welcomed four children by three different women and became a proud father of grand total of seven children.
But he won’t be shamed for growing his brood in such a short period of time. Cannon spoke about his rapidly growing family on Power 106 Los Angeles on Wednesday, while talking to rap duo JT and Yung Miami. He said he’s been “having these kids on purpose” after JT advised him to “wrap it up,” meaning he should use a condom when having sex.
“I had these babies on purpose. I don’t have no accident,” Cannon responded. “Trust me there’s a lot of people that I could’ve gotten pregnant that I didn’t. The ones that got pregnant are the ones that were supposed to get pregnant.”
Cannon first became a dad when he had twins Monroe and Moroccan, 10, with ex-wife Mariah Carey. Then Nick reportedly welcomed his seventh child on June 23, per his rumored girlfriend Alyssa Scott’s July 3 birth announcement. Earlier that month, Cannon and professional DJ Abby De La Rosa had twin boys, following an April announcement that she was pregnant.
And last December, his family expanded again when Brittany Bell gave birth to a girl named Powerful Queen Cannon. Bell and Cannon already had a son together, Golden “Sagon” Cannon, born in 2017.
“I’m like a seahorse,” he joked. “Trust me, there’s a lot of people I could’ve gotten pregnant that I didn’t,” he continued. “The ones that got pregnant are the ones that were supposed to get pregnant. . . . You only live once.”
We looked up some facts about seahorses and now we know why Cannon compares himself to one. “As little as five to as many as 1,000 juvenile seahorses, often called ‘frys’ in the fish world, can be born to the world in a single birthing session,” the Ocean Conservancy explains.
Apparently, no one told Nick Cannon that the male seahorse is the one that gives birth.
