Easy DIY Clay Crab Necklace for Kids

If your kids love the beach and sea animals, they will love this DIY clay crab necklace. It is pretty to look at and makes for an adorable necklace for your children and their friends. Also, don’t worry, this DIY is not difficult whatsoever. With some easy-to-find materials, you and your little ones can make this craft in no time.

Materials

  • A small amount of red and white oven-baked clay
  • Twine, or string
  • Eye hook
  • Black Sharpie or marker

Procedure 

  1. To make this DIY clay crab necklace, first sculpt the crab’s body. For this, soften a piece of red clay with your fingers.
  2. Then, take a piece and make a sphere. Flatten it with your thumb for the body of the crab.
  3. Take a tiny piece for the claws, roll it into a ball, and use your fingernails to indent it. Repeat for the second claw.
  4. For the legs, roll tiny pieces into thin rolls. Attach them to the body by just pressing firmly.
  5. Roll two pieces of white clay for the crab’s eyes and press onto the body.
  6. Now press the eye hook in the clay on top of the crab before baking.
  7. Bake according to the clay package instructions or for 20 minutes in a 300-degree Fahrenheit oven. Allow to cool completely.
  8. When the crab is completely cooled, add eyes with a Sharpie or black marker. Lastly, thread a piece of string or twine through the eye hook and close the string hook.

Voila, you have a cute DIY clay crab necklace ready for your kids to wear with their adorable outfits. Moreover, why limit yourselves to crabs?
