Pinecone Santa Ornament

Pinecone Santa Ornament DIY Craft

Materials:

  • medium pinecone
  • white popcorn yarn
  • red 1/2-inch pom pom
  • 1 pair wiggly eyes
  • red felt
  • white felt
  • white 1-inch pom pom
  • glue
  • scissors
  • straight pin
  • Santa Hat Pattern

Instructions:

Step 1: Glue the white popcorn yarn in loops onto the pinecone for Santa’s beard. Loop the pieces of yarn down the side of the pinecone, across the bottom, where you want Santa’s beard to be. Continue the loops all the way across, gluing the top of the lopp in place in the pinecone. in place on each loop.

Step 2: Print out the Santa Hat Pattern, and cut it out.

Step 3: Trace the Santa Hat Pattern piece onto the red felt. Cut out the red felt along your traced lines.

Step 4: Run a line of glue along the back seam of the hat (one of the straight edges).

Step 5: Fold the other side over to form the back seam of the hat to form a cone shape. Place a straight pin through the glued seam to hold it in place until it’s dry.

Step 6: Glue a 1-inch white pom pom to the tip of the hat.

Step 7: Once the back seam has dried, glue a 1/8 inch strip of white felt around the base of the hat.

Step 8: Fold the very tip of the hat over and glue it to hold it in place, so the hat tip is folded over and not sticking straight up. You can pin it together to hold it in place until the glue dries.

Step 9: Add a 1/2 inch red pom pom to Santa’s face for his nose.

Step 10: Add a pair of wiggly eyes.

Step 11: Glue the hat to the top of Santa’s pinecone head.

Step 11: Add more loops of white popcorn yarn to the side of Santa’s face if you need to and fill in between his hat and beard. You can also fill in with yarn on the back of the pinecone for hair.

Step 12: Once the glue is all dried add a string to the top of Santa’s hat to hang him on the Christmas tree.
