Materials:
- 1 red 6 inch paper doily heart (you can find this in the cake decorating section, or use decorative card stock and cut it into a heart shape)
- 1 white 6 inch Wilton paper doily heart
- 1 red 12 x 12 inch card stock
- 1 white 12 x 12 inch card stock
- scrap pieces of pink or red card stock
- fine tip permanent red marker
- fine tip permanent black marker
- glue pen
- double sided tape
- pencil
- scissors
Instructions:
Step 1: Cut the red card stock to 7 x 12 inches with scissors or a straight edge cutter.
Step 2: Cut the white card stock to 6 x 11 inches with scissors or a straight edge cutter.
Step 3: Fold the long side in half on the red card stock so the measurments are now 7 x 6 inches when the red card is folded.
Step 4: Fold the long side in half on the white card stock so the measurments are now 6 x 5 1/2 inches when the white card is folded.
Step 5: Open the white card, and lay the lace doily heart evenly over the inside of the center fold. Trace an outline of the top half of the heart lightly with a pencil onto the white card stock.
Step 6: Use a small pair of craft scissors to cut out the top of the heart outline you just traced from the white card stock, so the top part of the heart is cut out as shown below:
Step 7: Open the red card. Center the white card stock inside the red card stock, and fasten it down along the outside edges with double sided tape. Don’t fasten down the center where you cut out the heart outline at the top.
Step 8: Use the glue pen to glue the red doily heart into the center of the card, directly over the over the cut out, so the heart is only glued to the cut out portion at the top.
Step 9: Reverse the verticla fold in the center of the heart, so the heart pops out.
Step 10: Add your Valentine’s Day greeting. Try: Happy Valentine’s Day! or your favorite message.
Step 11: Cut 4 or 5 small hearts (2 – 3 inches) out of the scrap pieces of pink and red card stock. (Alternately, use small heart stickers)
Step 12: Add the 4 or 5 small heart cut outs or stickers onto the white card around the larger doily heart. Glue the small hearts to the card with the glue pen.
Step 13: Use the glue pen to glue the white doily heart flat to the front of the card.
Step 14: Add your favorite Valentine’s Day message to the front of the card; try: Be Mine! or your own special message.
Step 15: Give your card to your Valentine and watch him/her smile when they open your card and the heart pops up.
