Summer is in full swing. The long pool days, hot summer nights and popsicles on the porch have us holding on to it as long as we can. One of my favorite ways to decorate in the summer is with fresh flowers and fruit. Flowers make me so happy, and fruit is so colorful, so the combo is a win/win.
In the spirit of summer, and all things fresh, fruity and bright, I made something that has been on “to try” list for a year – a DIY pineapple vase. It was so incredibly easy! We ate the fresh pineapple I scooped out, and the eye-catching pineapple vase with flowers sat on our dining room table for a week.
There’s nothing that says summer more than pineapples and flowers! So, next time you are at the store, grab a pineapple and a bunch of flowers (or cut from your yard). Keep those good summer vibes alive as long as you can!
DIY Pineapple Vase
Materials:
- Pineapple
- Knife
- Spoon, preferably with serrated edges like a grapefruit spoon
- Solo cup, or plastic cup
- Fresh flowers
Instructions:
Step 1: Begin by cutting the top off the pineapple.
Step 2: Next, cut a circle around the inside of the pineapple, about 1/2 inch from the edge.
Step 3: Scoop out the flesh of the pineapple. If it’s helpful, you can also cut around the hard center, so it’s easier to scoop.
Step 4: Once you have a hollow pineapple, find a cup that will fit inside. I trimmed a solo cup, and it worked perfectly.
Step 5: Fill the cup with water, and begin to insert the flowers.
Now, you have a beautiful arrangement with a extra sweet DIY vase.
