When Kelsey Brewer of Kentucky was ordered to bed rest, the mama-to-be was upset that she would miss her scheduled maternity photoshoot with her sister, Kiana Whitney Smither of K.M. Smither Photography. Kelsey’s husband, Jared, wasn’t about to let that happen, so he texted Smither and together they hatched a hilarious plan to cheer up Kelsey.
Maternity shoots have become something of a milestone during the pregnancy stage, not only are they expensive and time-consuming but they are a huge deal to parents. On the scale of importance, they register up there with a wedding picture. And why wouldn’t they? It used to be that the only complex thing to plan during a pregnancy (aside from a birth plan) was a baby shower but now we have staged announcements, gender reveals, baby sprinkles, baby showers, and of course, the big photoshoot that highlights how beautiful a growing belly and glowing mama-to-be are.
So, on the day of the planned photoshoot, it wasn’t Kelsey who was photographed, it was her Jared. And OH, MY GOODNESS are they absolutely hilarious. Jared strikes all the essential Pinterest maternity shoot poses while cradling his ‘dad’ belly.
Possibly the funniest image is of him sitting in a river while wearing jeans but still glowing just like any proud mama would be. Not only does Jared nail the quintessential maternity shoot poses but his facial expressions are pure comedy. The only thing missing are majestic rainbows and the wind flowing in the breeze who cares because the gesture of love that makes this so special is worth everything.
Kelsey’s reaction, according to her Facebook page, was pure delight. She wrote, “My husband has been a total rock through this whole process and even managed to get with my sister to take these AMAZING PHOTOS! That I will literally cherish for the rest of my life!! Thank you so much, Kiana Whitney Smither, for capturing these images of my amazing husband! I can’t wait to watch you work your magic once our sweet boy is here!”
In the same sweet post, the Brewer’s announced that their baby boy’s name is Kash Cooper Brewer (so cute!) Congratulations to the Brewer family and kudos to Jared for making sure his wife got some humor and love out being put on best rest.
