Have you heard of nice cream? It’s basically a soft serve made out of frozen bananas and other super healthy ingredients. It’s pretty trendy right now and it’s easy to see why!
Pinterest is bursting with images of bikini-clad goddesses tucking into insane towers of flower-adorned, ombre-coloured nice cream bowls.
Sorry, this band wagon jump isn’t as, um, sexy. But what I can offer you are three different recipes that you can absolutely feed to your kids for breakfast, all packed with superfoods and tasting like ice cream. A total win!
Oh, and there may not be edible flowers or perky torsos in my pictures but they totally feature two chubby ‘helping’ hands. Same same.
Cheeky Monkey Nice Cream
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: n/a
Servings: 1 bowl
Ingredients
- 1 frozen banana
- almonds: 1/2 cup
- raw cacao: 1 tablespoon
- natural yogurt: 1/2 cup
Method
Step 1: Place all ingredients into a good-quality food processor and process until it turns into something similar to soft serve. If it seems too melted just add more frozen banana.
Step 2: Serve it to your kids for breakfast.
Step 3: Give yourself a high five.
Cocoberry Nice Cream
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: n/a
Servings: 1 bowl
Ingredients
- 1 frozen banana
- blueberries: 1/2 cup
- chia seeds: 1 tablespoon
- frozen raspberries: 1/2 cup
- coconut oil: 1 tablespoon
Method
Step 1: Soak your chia seeds in half a cup of water for 10 minutes. This softens them so little bodies can absorb the super-stuff better.
Step 2: Place all the ingredients into a good-quality food processor and process until it turns into something similar to soft serve. If it’s too melted just add more frozen banana.
Step 3: Serve it to your kids and make yourself a cup of tea.
Choc Mint Nice Cream
Prep time: 5 minutes

Servings: 1 bowl
Ingredients
- 1 frozen banana
- fresh mint leaves: 1/2 cup
- raw cacao: 1 tablespoon
- natural yogurt: 1/2 cup
Method
Step 1: Place all ingredients into a good-quality food processor and process until it turns into something similar to soft serve. If it’s too melted just add more frozen banana.
Step 2: Garnish with a mint leaf that your kids will most likely reject.
Step 3: Maybe just eat this one yourself, it’s really so good.
