Heartwork is an art benefit for Target House, a wonderful home-away-from-home for the families of children facing long-term treatment at St. Jude® Children's Research Hospital. There's no way to feel better about what you choose to hang in your kiddos' rooms and in your home than knowing the prints you buy help children of all stages of health who are staying at the Target house.
The proceeds from the Heartwork art benefit go towards art supplies within the art room at Target House—a room where kids can come together to explore their creativity, and above all, just be kids.
Each of the prints feature an interpretation of the word "Hope" and each edition is limited to only 10 pieces, signed/numbered by the artist.
Heartwork art goes on sale at NOON CST on June 17, 2014 – check out the prints for sale (all only $25 each!) and if you love them, act fast – the prints sell out quickly!

The Garden Crew by Tegan White
Buy this print at Heartwork
My illustration is of a rabbit, mouse, and shrew tending to a garden of vibrant, healthy spring flowers. Hardly anything embodies "hope" more completely than new buds and plants and flowers appearing everywhere after a long, harsh winter. Many flowers bloom easily on their own, but some need hard work, patience, and perseverance to flourish. When things are at their winteriest, it helps to remember that fortitude pays off, and that spring is always around the corner.

Wing Wishes by Brian Flynn

I thought about what the kids at St. Jude might be thinking about, what they might be missing or generally wanting to do while staying at the Target House. I came back to the fact that it was probably the little things –ice cream, kicking a soccer ball, riding a skateboard, etc. The simple day to day activities that make you forget who you are or what you are doing and are just enjoyable on their own. I tried to include a variety of activities for both boys and girls so that everyone who looks at it might have a chance to see something of themselves somewhere inside of it. I put all of these things inside the wings of a butterfly, so their hopes might be given wings to fly.

Waiting For Spring To Arrive by Chris Turnham

My piece, “Waiting for Spring to Arrive” was inspired by the seasons and the hope that occurs when the first signs of spring begin to break through the harsh winter. This year was an especially bad one for most of the country and I imagined all the springtime plants and critters patiently waiting for the snow to melt.

Gail and I have a mutual love of illustrators who create worlds you can climb into. The works of Richard Scarry, Maurice Sendak, and Windsor McCay come to mind. Each of them build complex environments; places of respite where your imagination can wander. Our desire was to create a dream world -- a hopeful future -- where the viewer can reside, if only for a few moments.
