3 DIY Facial Masks – Rejuvenate Your Skin for the New Year

You know what they say about the life of a mom: the days go by slow, but the years go by fast! Looking back at this past year, it is hard to believe it has all flown by in the blink of an eye. With the everyday hustle and bustle, there’s hardly any time to sit and reflect on all that has happened within the past year. These 3 simple facial masks give will give you a moment to sit back, relax, and reflect upon all you’ve accomplished in the last year. Pamper yourself for a moment during this busy season without breaking the bank with a DIY facial.

(Please note that it is always better to clean your face before applying a mask. It will open your pores allowing all these yummy ingredients to seep into your skin and revitalize you.)

For Dry Skin

  • ½ of an avocado
  • 1 small banana
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

Mash or blend these ingredients until you have a thick, creamy consistency.  Apply and leave on face for 10 minutes, then rinse with cool water and pat dry.

Avocados are loaded with Vitamins E & K, and tons of antioxidants. This natural oil-packed veggie will quench your skin and give it a refreshed look. Avocado will help fade scars, and its oil is actually patented as a treatment for some forms of dermatitis and arthritis. Bananas are great for hydrating and making skin look younger. They contain Vitamins C & B6 which help skin’s resiliency by protecting it from free radicals which lead to premature skin aging. Finally, olive oil packs extra moisture for your skin.

For Normal Skin

  • ½ tsp of turmeric
  • 2 tbsp of raw, plain coconut yogurt

Mix these ingredients and apply to clean face for 15-20 minutes, then rinse with warm water.
(If you really want to feel like you just stepped out a spa, try applying a few drops of Argon Oil evenly around the face after you’ve rinsed the mask off.  I love argon oil, not only because of the endless reasons why it’s good for you, but because it smells ridiculously good, too!)

Turmeric is amazing for blemishes, dark spots, and aging. Coconut yogurt is a moisturizing antioxidant that provides the skin with essential fats, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.

For Oily Skin

  • 1 organic egg, white seperated from yolk

Separate egg yolk from egg whites. Beat the whites until they are nice and foamy. Once they are, apply evenly all over face (avoiding the eyes). Keep it on until it has hardened and you can no longer move your face, then rinse your face clean.

If you feel bad throwing the yolk away, use a tablespoon of it and rub it onto your face because it is a natural moisturizer! Once it is dry, rinse again, and you’re all done.

Eggs are great for whitening and tightening; they’ll give you a temporary face lift. Eggs tighten the skin and diminish pore size, which helps keep your natural oil production at a minimum.

These masks are great if you’re like most women, whose skin alternates between dry, normal and oily depending on season. Try rotating between these three whenever your skin is in need.
