When I’m rushing around after our kids, picking up toys, navigating getting on a bus with a pushchair, or racing from the office to the nursery for pick-up time, the last thing I want to be wearing is heels. I have a whole tub of gorgeous heels under our spare bed—and they’ve been there for months, hardly worn. That’s just the reality of being a busy mum. But just because I need a practical pair of shoes, it doesn’t mean they can’t be gorgeous! I’m a huge believer in bringing an otherwise dull outfit bang up to date with an amazing pair of shoes. Just add any of these fabulous flats to skinny jeans and a striped Breton top , throw on a nice necklace, and you have yourself an outfit. Check out my favorite stylish picks in the slideshow above.

Lumba Ballets
The ASOS Lumba Ballets , £22, are just beautiful. Elegant with their pointy toe and ankle strap, but the powder blue colour does mean you shouldn't wear them to a muddy park or while your child is getting busy with poster paints. It will just end in tears (yours).
Griffin Maddy
Is there a more summery flat than the Griffin Maddy , £50, from Clarks? I think not. That yellow will perk up anyone's day---no matter what the good old British summer throws at us. Wear with flirty dresses or your favourite cropped trousers for a sharp look.
Silver Glitter Espadrilles
Fancy some sparkle in your step? New Look's Silver Glitter Espadrilles , £12, are for you. Espadrilles are everywhere this season, after being all over the SS15 catwalks (or so I'm reliably informed by my fashion editor friends). I love this glitzy pair.
Might You Jazz Shoes
Carrying on the cut-out trend from last year, the ASOS Might You Jazz Shoes , £30, will look amazing with rolled up jeans or a skirt and your favourite tee. Extra air circulation for your feet in the warmer months is a bonus!
Lille Lace-Up Point
No flats roundup would be complete without the shoes of the season: the Lille Lace-Up Point , £89, from Boden. Lace-up shoes are so hot right now, thanks to those Aquazurra shoes that only super rich folks can afford. Luckily, lots of High Street stores have done a version---hurrah!
Dalmatian Leather Slip-On Shoes
If you're more a slip-on trainer kinda girl, check out these Dalmatian Leather Slip-On Shoes , £75---a collaboration between & Other Stories and Vans. If you really love the print, they also do a silk shirt and a skirt in the same dalmatian spots. Just don't go near anyone called Cruella DeVille.
Alice Flat
Following the huge success of their Alice heels earlier this year, Boden have brought out the Alice Flat , £99. It comes in a few different colours, but the pink, orange, and yellow is my personal favourite and is guaranteed to add oomph to any outfit without giving you sore feet!
Green Suede Lace Up Brogues
Opt for the gorgeous ice cream shade of these Green Suede Lace Up Brogues , £45, from River Island, and your mum friends will be green with envy. Tell me you're not dying to buy a pair.
