Screen time has been one of the best inventions to help parents get through the trenches of raising people but the downside is when kids begin to prefer screen time over basically anything else. Enter Cassie Langan and her husband, Chris who realized that it would take a hefty sense of humor to drive home a point that their kids are seeing entirely too much screen time.
Langan posted a series of 13 images in which she and her husband took their modem out for lunch and some other adventures. They asked their kids to go but the kids told their parents that they would rather stay home where there is Internet. So, the parents clapped back by literally taking the Internet on a family date and the images are absolutely hysterical.
“We asked our kids if they would like to go on a day trip to Warrnambool today and were met with the response ‘that’s so boring, I don’t want to go’,” the caption reads. “Chris and I decided that instead of taking 3 unappreciative kids out, we let the ones who didn’t want to go stay home and took our most overworked family member for a well deserved day out….. our modem. Modem had a fantastic day not being used by the kids and it was lovely not to listen to constant bickering. The only complaining was Evan being mortified that we took our modem out in public.”
The images include showing the beloved family Modem basking in the sun on a sandy beach and sitting in front of a yummy take out lunch among other amusingly staged shots. The point these brilliant parents are trying to prove here is that life happens offline and if their kids are going to scream “BORING!” when faced with choices of what to do outside of the house then gosh darn it, the Moden can come along instead. Mom and dad are flipping geniuses.
The post is obviously resonating with parents as it has been shared more than 54,000 times and no wonder, talk about the ultimate prank on the kids. If I’m being honest, I’m a bit jealous of Modem’s day.
