Sir Richard Branson says Kate Winslet’s kids were very brave as a fire ravaged his Necker Island home where the families were vacationing.
The Virgin airlines (and Virgin Galactic) mogul shared: “Special congratulations and lots of hugs went to Kate Winslet’s two beautiful children Mia, 10 and Joe, 7. They were real troopers and two of the bravest kids I’ve ever come across!”
Branson was staying at a nearby house on the island when the fire broke out at around 4 a.m. Kate was staying in the main island house with her boyfriend, Louis Dowler, and about 20 other friends and family members. Branson rushed over to help everyone evacuate. It’s believed that a lightning strike combined with high winds were to blame.
Kate shared with the UK Mirror: “I’m just so glad that everyone is safe. This very easily could not have been the case. I will never forget Richard placing his arms around my children as we were watching the flames and saying, ‘At the end of the day, what you realize is that all that matters is the people you love. Everything else is just stuff. And none of that stuff matters.'”
