Overall
Avatar: The Way of Water is a sequel to the box-office his Avatar which was released in 2009. You can watch this movie without viewing the prequel but there are numerous call-backs and references to the previous film. You may enjoy the movie more if you have seen the prequel. The movie is best for teens or older due to the intense action, strong language and partial nudity. If your child has seen Avatar this film should be fine for them. The movie is rather long at a runtime of 3 hours and 12 minutes, so take that into consideration. The themes of this movie are much like the first and focus on environmentalism, multiculturalism and diplomacy.
